Kevin C. Hansen, 56, of Clear Lake, died Monday, April 23, 2012 at the Mercy Medical Center North Iowa, Mason City, Iowa.
An informal celebration of his life was held Sunday, April 29, at the The Other Place, Clear Lake. According to his wishes, his body has been cremated and a memorial visitation with family was held Thursday, April 26 at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake.
Kevin was born July 31, 1955, in Mason City, the son of Clifford “Biff” and Lois “Lindy” (Olsen) Hansen. Kevin was a 1974 graduate of Clear Lake High School. He started working for Schneider Metal Manufacturing in Mason City and continued working for I.M.I. Cornelius Company. Kevin worked for Curries Manufacturing upon the time of his death.
Kevin was a sports fanatic, participating in high school wrestling, baseball and football, but came into his own when playing slow pitch softball in North Iowa. Kevin’s highlight in life was playing for many North Iowa softball teams (Theiss Sports, Breeze, Lu’s Lounge). He respected and was thankful for being a part of the teams he played with. Kevin spent time with the players up to the time of his death.
He was an avid Minnesota Vikings, Cubs turned Twins, and Iowa Hawkeye football fan. Kevin bowled on a Clear Lake bowling league and also loved to spend time fishing.
Kevin is survived by his family, Vance Hansen, Clear Lake, Susan DeVary, Osage, Iowa, and David Hansen Clear Lake; nephews, Nathaniel Hansen, Ventura, Jared Hansen, New Hope, Minn., and Jake Hansen, Clear Lake, nieces, Misty (Matt) Green, Killeen, Texas, and Lynzy DeVary, Des Moines, Iowa; two aunts, Irene Hansen, Whitefish, Mont. and Janice (Keith) Bowman, Des Moines; cousins, Terry (Joanne) Hansen, St. Marys, Alaska; Tom (Carol) Hansen, Kallispell, Mont., Christie (Mark) Grattidge, Clear Lake, and Scott (Tracy) Bowman, Johnston, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Kathy Marnette.
Kevin’s laugh was very recognizable and will forever be missed.
