Alice Kramer

    Alice Kramer, 97, of 1509 W. 7th Ave. N., Clear Lake, died Sunday, May 20, 2012 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, Iowa.
    Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, May 24, at the Evangelical Free Church, 1310 Highway 18 W., Clear Lake, with the Rev. Dan Jordan officiating. Visitation

will be Wednesday from 4 -7 p.m. at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, and then one hour before the service at the church. Interment will be in Clear Lake Cemetery. Family suggests memorials to Evangelical Free Church or American Heart Association.
     Alice was born Feb. 15, 1915 on a farm near Wellsburg, Iowa the daughter of John and Anna (Ross) Bakker.  She attended country school at Shiloh No. 8 in Wellsburg. She worked at home and the family farm. Alice married Harold Kramer on Feb. 21, 1935.  When the children were old enough to take care of themselves, she started working at different restaurants and then owned and operated Alice’s Corner Café in Mason City for many years.  Alice retired at age 73.  She loved to cook for her family and do quilting and fancy work.  Alice is a member of the Evangelical Free Church.  
     Alice is survived by six children, Janice Lemon and her husband, Gerald “Gary”, Fairmont, Minn., Joyce Pruismann and her husband, James, Bondurant, Iowa, Mervin Kramer and his wife, Patricia, Urbandale, Iowa, Larry Kramer and his wife, Joan, Poulsbo, Wash., Julie Hanson and her husband, James, Clear Lake, and George Kramer and his wife, Mary, Baudette, Minn.; 27 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Meint Bakker and his wife, Bonita,  Madison, Wis., daughter-in-law, Barb Halsne, Blairsburg, Iowa, and several nieces and nephews.
     Alice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold (Nov. 23, 2004); daughter, JoAnn Kalvig; son, Dennis Kramer; infant son, Leon Kramer; grandsons, Paul Kramer and Jeff Pruismann; granddaughter, Alice Kalvig; great-granddaughter, Kaitlin Hanson; son-in-law, Elmer Kalvig; and brothers Gratus, Everett, Gerrit, and  Mennie Bakker.
