Joseph Goranson

    Joseph “Joe” J. Goranson, 46, of Mason City, Iowa and formerly Clear Lake, died Monday, Feb. 13, 2012 in  Mason City.
    Memorial services were held Saturday, Feb. 18, at the Clear Lake United Methodist Church with the Rev. Diana Hoover officiating. Inurnment was in Clear Lake Cemetery.  Family suggests memorials to Clear Lake United Methodist Church.

    Joe was born in Sac City, Iowa.  He grew up in the Clear Lake area and graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1983.  He then attended North Iowa Area Community College.
    Joe worked in just about every position at various restaurants in the North Iowa area, from dishwasher to chef.  He loved to ride his bike and was an avid movie buff and collector. In recent years, Joe’s greatest joy came from working on his classic Pontiac Firebird. He always enjoyed getting together with his family in Clear Lake, especially on Christmas and the Fourth of July.
    Joe is survived by his parents, Donald and Anne Goranson, Clear Lake; five brothers, John (Janet) Lovell, Ellsworth, Iowa, Steve (Marcia) Goranson, White Bear Lake, Minn., Tom (Jan) Lovell, Clear Lake, Dan (Kimberly) Goranson, Davenport, Iowa and Jim (Janis) Lovell, Urbandale, Iowa; and 11 nieces and nephews. 
    He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Goranson. 
    Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
