Bowling for Blake Bowl-A-Thon to be held in memory of CL teacher

Blake Lobdell, born and raised in Belmond and a long-time teacher at Clear Lake High School, passed away suddenly at the age of 50-years-old.   Two of Blake’s greatest passions were teaching and bowling, so it seems fitting that a Blake Lobdell Memorial Scholarship

Fund has been established to honor Blake Lobdell and his passion for kids. The scholarship fund drive will kick off with a bowl-a-thon.

The Bowling for Blake Bowl-A-Thon will be held at the Rose Bowl in Mason City Dec. 26-28.
Everyone is encouraged to come out to The Rose Bowl Dec. 26, 27 or 28 between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.   All lanes will be available on those days and times.  There will be no bowling from 4-6 p.m., but then limited bowling is available from 6-9 p.m. (limited lane availability due to league play). From 9 p.m. to midnight all lanes will again be available.
Organizers say there are two options for bowling:
Option one  is a great option for individuals or families that just want to bowl and have fun and make a contribution to the scholarship fund.  A $10 entry fee paid to the Rose Bowl will include three games and shoe rental; $5 of the entry fee goes directly to the Blake Lobdell Scholarship Fund.
Option two asks bowlers to use the pledge or sponsor form (located on the www.bowlingforblake.com website).  Bowlers using option two will pay $5  to the Rose Bowl for three games and shoe rental.  Bowlers must bring their completed sponsor form with them the day they bowl.
Organizers will make a copy of the form and bowling score; bowlers will get their form back and then are expected to collect from their sponsors.
All monies collected are due no later than Jan. 6 and can be returned to: Tony Kockler, Clear Lake High School, 125 N. 20th St., Clear Lake, Iowa 50428.
Those who aren’t bowlers, but want to help to create this endowed scholarship are encouraged to sponsor a bowler, either on a point basis or a flat rate donation.  Those choosing the point option would use the bowlers’ score over three games, multiplied by the amount pledged per point.  For example, if the bowler scored a total of 410 over three games and the sponsored had pledged four-cents per point, the total donation would be $16.40.  Checks should be made to the Blake Lobdell Scholarship Fund.
