Working to meet the needs

Record number of ornaments on Giving Tree

Response was terrific to The Giving Tree, but the need remains strong for local families needing a little help this holiday season.
This is the 22nd year the Mirror-Reporter has teamed with Clear Lake and Ventura Schools, Head Start and Charlie Brown

to present The Giving Tree.  Those signing up for The Giving Tree through the schools may request food for the holidays and gifts for children.  The tree, which this year holds 280 ornaments,  is located in the office of the Clear Lake Mirror-Reporter, 12 N. 4th St.
Ornaments on The Giving Tree state the age and gender of a child, along with any special needs they may have this holiday season.  Other ornaments list the size of families seeking gifts of food.
This year, 7 Stars Restaurant will donate $100 weekly in a special drawing now through Christmas.  The restaurant will donate $50 cash to the family and a $50 donation will be given in the name of the winner to the “Giving Tree.”  Register at 7 Stars Restaurant, 2309 3rd Ave. S., Clear Lake.  No purchase is necessary.
The ornaments may be checked out at the Clear Lake Mirror-Reporter office Monday-Friday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Packages must be turned back into the Reporter office by Monday, Dec. 12.
Financial contributions are also welcomed for The Giving Tree.  Mirror-Reporter staff will use the donations to purchase food gift certificates and gifts for Giving Tree families.
