Clear Lake volleyball team drops matches in triangular meet

    The Clear Lake volleyball team met up with some tough competition in a triangular match Thursday.  Third ranked (3A) Charles City and (4A) Mason City both swept the Lions.
    Charles City cruised to a 25-8, 25-5 win, while the match with Mohawks was closer, 25-14, 25-20.
    “I thought we looked a little nervous versus Charles City.  We came out of the locker room not ready to play and that is my fault as the head coach,” said the Lion leader, Scott Swenson.  “Charles City

is a very strong 3A volleyball team-- with a lot of talent.”
    Against Charles City, five Lions recorded one kill apiece: Kaitlyn Pitzen, Jenna Peterson, Taylor Julsen, Jeanette Davis and Anne Tesar . Carly Ouverson had four assists.  Ryan Pierce had three digs and Jenna Peterson had five .
