Why did the chicken cross the road?

Why did the chicken cross the road?  He was in the new drive-through lane at the annual Noon Lions Chicken Barbeque!

New Lions members served an estimated 4,000 dinners in Clear Lake City Park Sunday, raising funds which will benefit the community through a variety of projects.

Mark Tindall, who headed up this year’s Chicken Barbeque, said everything went well at the event, from the weather to the new drive-up lane the club set up for carry-out orders.  Approximately 40 percent of orders were filled through the drive-up.

“The drive-through was very popular.  We had many great comments about it,” said Tindall.  “I think it’s an idea we’ll keep and make even better.”

Tindall said it takes every club member, as  well as Boy Scouts and other volunteers to pull off the huge effort.  Set-up for the day began at 3 a.m., with the first chicken halves put on the grill at 4:15 a.m.

“It’s a great day and a great meal,” added Tindall.
