Clear Lake men will receive lifesaving award

    A pair of Clear Lake men are among 26 individuals who will be recognized with Governor’s Lifesaving Awards during a ceremony at the Iowa State Fair later this week. Shane Monson and Michael Moorehead will be honored with a lifesaving award, given to those who have saved the lives of others without apparent risk to their own life.

    According to a press release about the presentation, on Nov. 10, 2008, Joshua Featherstone was traveling in a fertilizer sprayer when he lost control and it rolled over, ejecting him from the vehicle and pinning him facedown under the rear tire of the machine.  Monson and Moorehead came across the accident.  Unable to summon emergency personnel, they decided that removing the machinery was the best course of action.
