The Iowa High School Golf Coaches Association released its post season honors this week. Clear Lake’s successful girls and boys programs were represented.
Malorie Fischels, a CLHS senior, was named to the Class 4A First team All-State. Teammates Paige Backhaus, a junior, and Megan Loux, a senior, were named to the Second Team.
The association also lists an All-Tournament Team following the State Meet. Loux, who tied for fifth at the State Meet, was named to the Class 4A First Team. Fischels, who finished ninth at State, was a Second Team selection. The Lions finished third in the Class 4A State Meet field. Due to inclement weather, the State Meet was shortened to a nine-hole tournament.
On the boys side, Clear Lake sophomores Dane Waldron and Tommy Schick were First Team All-Tournament choices. Waldron finished in a tie for second among Class 3A players, while Schick finished in a tie for sixth. The Lions placed third as a team.
