Scott W. Robinson

 

     Scott Warner Robinson, Hastings, Neb., 49, passed away Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013 at Mary Lanning HealthCare, Hastings, as a result of a heart attack and went to be with his heavenly father.      

     Memorial Services were held Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013 at Lakeside Community Church of the Nazarene,

Clear Lake Board approves sharing with MC

The Clear Lake School Board voted 4-1 Monday night to approve a sharing agreement with the Mason City Community School District which will provide oversight and training for two Clear Lake employees carrying out the duties of transportation/building and grounds director.

Jeff Sheimo and Sterling Washburn, longtime employees of the Clear Lake School District, have been leading the departments since Kelly McLaughlin resigned the position in August after being placed on a paid administrative leave of absence in June.

Two plead guilty to sex crimes against Clear Lake teen

 

Two men who crossed state lines to commit sex acts with a minor pled guilty in federal court in Cedar Rapids.    The incident involved a Clear Lake teenager.

Mensur Malik, 22, from Sioux Falls, S.D., was convicted of one count of transporting a minor across a state line with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity.  Salim Issa, 22, from Sioux Falls, was convicted of one count of 

traveling across a state line for the purpose of engaging in illicit sexual conduct.

Lions move one step closer with win

 

Clear Lake took a major step toward earning the Class 3A District 3 title with a 35-25 victory over sixth ranked Humboldt Friday night at Lions Field.  The No. 5 ranked Lions, who moved to 5-0, will host the only other undefeated team in the district, Webster City, this Friday.

CL volleyball team picks up impressive win

 

The Clear Lake volleyball team stormed back from an 0-2 start and recorded an impressive win over Bishop Garrigan, ranked 11th in Class 1A.  The Lions got the win on the road, 19-25, 24-26, 25-18, 25-20, 15-8.

“I was very proud of this volleyball team,” said an elated Head Coach Scott Swenson.  “We could have folded up

Garner-Hayfield/Ventura (4-1) defeated East Sac County (3-2) with a familiar display of physicality in a 13-10 win. The engine of the Cardinal’s power offense was restoked as 363-yards of offense was tallied in a game where luck favored the victors. But a lack of discipline nearly cost the Cardinals what should have been a decisive win over the Raiders.
