Kevin Boehnke, a Ventura native, is bringing his musical talent back to his hometown area.  Boehnke is excited to be releasing his album, “Find Your Way,” at the Surf Ballroom on Saturday, May 4.  Boehnke will take the main stage from 6-8 p.m.  He will play original compositions, as well as covers.  His new CD will be available for the first time.

Boehnke recorded the album in Nashville, Tenn. with some talented musicians, including Ben Lau, a native of Garner, who recorded the album and lent his vocals to the project.  “Find Your Way” features Boehnke on guitar, trumpet and vocals.  It also features some of Nashville’s finest session players like Ike Thurston on drums, Eric Barfield keys and organ, and Christian Harger on bass.

“I recorded this album in Nashville and it includes a wide variety of styles, such as rock, country and pop,” said Boehnke.  “All of the tracks on the album tell stories about my experiences growing up in Iowa.”

Boehnke began writing his own songs over a year ago.  After writing dozens, he picked some of his favorites to record.  It’s then that he went to Lau to take his songs to the next level by recording them.

“The album took approximately one week to record.  Ben did a phenomenal job of getting the tracks completed efficiently. His professional opinion and years of experience truly help the album to stick out,” said Boehnke.
