Inspired by loss of her fiance, Erin Morehouse sets fundraising goal for her first half-marathon

   Erin Morehouse is on a mission. 
    Inspired by the loss of her fiance Kyle DeVries in 2007, she’s on a mission to help find cures and more effective treatments for blood cancer.  DeVries, a standout athlete while at Clear Lake High School went on to play college football at Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls.  That’s where he was diagnosed with leukemia.


Ventura school tax rate will drop 99-cents

The Ventura School District, which already had the second lowest school tax rate in the state, will reduce its tax asking by 99-cents in the 2012-13 school year.  The School Board held its budget hearing Monday night and approved dropping its school tax rate from $9.92 per $1,000 of assessed property valuation to $8.93 per $1,000.


CLPD K-9 officer will be replaced
