Ventura honors its championship teamas final high school games are played

     There were special guests at Ventura’s home basketball game on Friday night, as members of the 1987 Girls State Championship Basketball team were honored for their 25th anniversary of bringing home the title.
    “I haven’t been back to Ventura since I graduated, so it was nice to come back and see the nice, new gym they have and to remember my high school days,” said Steph (Jacobs) Wishman, a former starting guard for the team.

Trucker dies after semi crashes off I-35

    A Minnesota man was killed in a single-vehicle accident Friday on Interstate 35 south of Clear Lake.
    Dean Earl Elam, 73, Litchfield, Minn., was transported by Clear Lake Ambulance to Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, Mason City, where he died, according to the Iowa State Patrol.

   

Improvements planned for CL State Park

    The Iowa Department of Natural Resources Natural Resource Commission (NRC) has approved $166,128 worth of improvements for Clear Lake State Park. 
    The project, approved by the NRC at its Jan. 17 meeting, includes upgrading eight campsites to full hookup sites.  The improvements will provide sewer, water and electricity to campsites 95-101, as well as the host site at the campgrounds.
