Clear Lake men will receive lifesaving award

A pair of Clear Lake men are among 26 individuals who will be recognized with Governor’s Lifesaving Awards during a ceremony at the Iowa State Fair later this week. Shane Monson and Michael Moorehead will be honored with a lifesaving award, given to those who have saved the lives of others without apparent risk to their own life.

Clear Lake EMTs and firefighters are now operating out of the new Clear Lake Fire Station, located at the corner of North 8th Street and 2nd Avenue North.
“We’re absolutely thrilled,” said Fire Chief Doug Meyers.EMT’s made the move Friday, while fire apparatus was moved in Sunday. Monday was the first day of complete operations out of the new building, said Meyers.
