Energy demand sets new record in Iowa

Interstate Power and Light Company (IPL), an Alliant Energy company, has announced that usage in its “West Control Area” set a record Wednesday, July 25.   

According to preliminary data, the new record peak is 3,724 megawatts set at 5 p.m. on July 25, 2012.  The previous record peak of 3,699 megawatts was set one year ago on July 18, 2011. Before that, the record was

Club’s event keeps getting bigger, better

 

This weekend the C.L.A.S.S. Car Club presents its 28th annual Summer Cruise, Dance and Car Show by the lake.  The event is the largest car show between Des Moines and Minneapolis.

“It is always a great time.  Last year over 700 cars cruised around the lake on Friday evening and over 425 cars were at the show on Saturday,” said Jerry Young, C.L.A.S.S. president.

   

School district re-hires football coach, with sanction

The Clear Lake School Board, on a 3-1 vote, has extended Fred Wieck a one-year contract to continue as its high school head football coach.  Wieck will sit out the opening weekend of the football season in the wake of a public intoxication conviction.

   

Rozendaal helps take history to new heights

Flying is just part of the attraction Doug Rozendaal has to aviation.  Sharing the history behind it is another.

The Clear Lake pilot is in Oshkosh, Wis. this week, participating in the famed EAA AirVenture Oshkosh show. He will be flying three of the seven days of the 2012 event, twice in a program saluting aviation icon Bob Hoover and once as part of the Red Tail Squadron which pays tribute to the Tuskegee Airmen.
