Schools’ energy savings top $720,500

Saving energy and thus money is an important and ongoing goal for the Clear Lake School District. Under the direction of Mike Callanan, the district’s energy manager since 2007, that goal is being accomplished.
City continues to shine fiscally in hard economic times

The City of Clear Lake continues to be a shining example of fiscal strength.
City Administrator Scott Flory gave the City Council an overview of the Annual Financial report he will submit to the Iowa Department of Management and State Auditor’s Office, as required by law. Flory pointed out the Iowa Constitution limits the amount of General Obligation debt a City may incur to no more than 5 percent of its 100 percent valuation.
Aerial truck will take department to new heights

The Clear Lake Fire Department welcomed a new 75-foot straight stick Sutphen Ladder truck Thursday, Nov. 16. The new apparatus will become the CLFD’s first response vehicle to structure fires within city limits. The truck replaces a pumper “3303” purchased by Clear Lake in 1983 and currently in service.
