Partnership ignites creative spirit in local artist

Since June 2014, the kiln in Walker 3-D Studio at the Clear Lake Arts Center has been working overtime.  A partnership with Steve and Marilyn Johnson allowed the Arts Center to have an Artist-in-Residence program.  The artist, Alec Heggen a 2014 graduate of Clear Lake High School, worked a minimum of three mornings a week for eight weeks and the public was invited to watch. 

   

Cannon sounds for the final time at Lions Field

There will be no more resounding booms following Clear Lake touchdowns at Lions Field.

Mike Keefe says that after 11 years he is retiring the cannon he built to celebrate success on the gridiron.  Last Friday night he and friend Rex McChesney, along with members of the fire department and others, set off their final salute from beyond the north endzone as Clear Lake topped Hampton-Dumont, 20-7.

Police transition into half of new space

It’s business as usual at the Clear Lake Police Department.  And that’s saying something.

Without so much as a minute downtime, the department has seamlessly moved into its new headquarters-- the former fire department garage at City Hall.  The garage has been renovated to provide space for a dispatch center, officer’s room, locker room, armory, booking room and interrogation rooms.

   

Employee accused of stealing more than 30K from pharmacy

A former employee of Clear Lake Pharmacy has been accused of taking in excess of $30,000 from the business.

As the result of a lengthy ongoing investigation, Abigail L. Roberts, 29, from Rockwell, Iowa, has been charged with ongoing criminal conduct (Class B felony) and 1st Degree Theft (Class C felony).
