$1 million grant offered to Opportunity Village

The Kinney-Lindstrom Foundation recently announced a $1 million pledge to Opportunity Village’s housing transition project over the next several years. This is the largest single foundation pledge ever received by the Village.
The Kinney-Lindstrom Foundation’s commitment to the Village goes back to 1972, when it made a $170,000 pledge to help construct the activity center on the main site in Clear Lake. At the time, the first two cottage homes were being constructed by Handicap Village, as it was originally known.

The Clear Lake School Board will have one new member when it convenes Monday, Sept. 23. Chyrl Bergvig was the top vote-getter in the Sept. 10 election, denying incumbent Sandy Christ a third term on the Board. Incumbent Mark Tesar received 151 more votes than Christ, giving him the second seat up for election.
Pump repair plan tripled at Water Treatment Plant

Clear Lake City Council members anticipated replacing one pump at its Water Treatment Plant, but now are forced to purchase three pumps at a cost of nearly $480,000.
Monday night Council members approved a professional services agreement with Veenstra & Kimm to proceed with the necessary improvements to the plant.
