Lions play Decorah tonight with State berth on the line

    The Clear Lake Lions moved to just one win away from a State berth with a 9-0 win over Oelwein Monday night.  The Lions (32-6) and ranked number three, will play Decorah tonight (Wednesday, July 18) in a Sub-State matchup to determine which of the Class 3A teams will advance to the State Tournament next week.  Decorah (25-10) was a 12-6 winner over No. 9 New Hampton.
    “Decorah is a good team with a good tradition and we know we will have to play a good game to beat them,” said Clear Lake Coach Seth Thompson.  “Our boys have had a great year and we would love to see as many people as possible show up in Charles City Wed. to support them.”


Results announced for Bicycle, Blues and Barbecue races

Clear Lake played host to hundreds of bicyclists during the Bicycle, Blues and Barbecue event held the weekend of July 6-8.  The party started on Friday night in City Park, downtown Clear Lake, with barbecue and live music.  
    On Saturday, a charity fun ride began at 7 a.m.  The bicycle racing began on Saturday with omnium race format, where cyclists compete for the over-all best racer of the weekend in three cycling disciplines: time trial, criterium and road race.


Tough loss lands the Lions as NCC runner-up

The highs were high and the lows were low last week in Clear Lake baseball.  The Lions opened the week with a strong win over Webster City to set up an exciting showdown with conference leader Bishop Garrigan.  Another win had the Lions in a tie for the North Central Conference title, but a stunning loss to Humboldt relegated the team to NCC runner-up this year.

Decorah tops Lions in District action

    The season came to an end last week for the Clear Lake softball team.  After dropping their final regular season game to Webster City, Decorah topped the Lions in the opening round of District play Friday. 
    The Lions finished the season with a 2-25 record.
