It was battle to the end for the Clear Lake volleyball team when they faced St. Edmond on Thursday, Sept. 22.
The Lions fought hard in the first two games with wins of 27-25 and 25-22. Unfortunately, St. Edmond picked up their game and won the next three, 25-15, 25-16 and 15-8.
“The girls came out of the locker room with a sense of urgency,” said Coach Scott Swenson. “They had their backs against the wall the first two sets, but with some coaching adjustments, found a way to win. The last three sets we lost our aggressiveness. We started to play on our heels, instead of our toes, and lost our momentum.”
Kaitlyn Pitzen led the team at the net with 17 kills, followed closely by Jenna Peterson with 15. Also collecting kills were Taylor Julsen with seven and Brianna Hagen with four.
Serving was led by Peterson, who was 21/23 with five aces.
