Lions earn post-season honors

Eleven members of the Clear Lake Lions have received First Team All-District honors in Class 3A, District 3 balloting.

Named to the First Team All-District Offense was: running back Cody Maulsby, a senior; wide receiver Gavin Sheakley, a senior; offensive linemen Wiley VanHorn, a senior, and Mitchell Jordan, a junior; and kicker Logan Kracht, a junior.

Six Lions were among the First Team All-District Defense: defensive linemen Steven Akers and Brice Wilcke, both 

   

Three volleyball players earn spots on All-North Central Conference Teams

Two members of the Clear Lake volleyball team have been named to the All-North Central Conference First Team.  Clear Lake Head Coach Scott Swenson made the announcement Thursday at a banquet for the team and their families.

 

   

G-H/V to play MC in Iowa Hall of Pride Challenge

The Garner-Hayfield/Ventura girls basketball team will be participating in the Iowa Hall of Pride’s community service initiative, the “Iowa Hall of Pride Challenge.”  The Cardinals will play the Mason City girls basketball team in a “Pride Scrimmage,” on Friday, Nov. 16, at the Mason City High School gym.  The freshman team will start at 

   

Lions blank Boone; fall to Grinnell

Undefeated and second ranked Grinnell was too much for the Clear Lake Lions Monday night in the UNI-Dome.  The Tigers advanced to the Second Round of the State Playoffs with a 33-10 victory.  

 

Grinnell (11-0) will face South Tama in Friday’s quarterfinal round. South Tama defeated Humboldt Monday, 21-12.  South Tama is one of three teams to finish with a 4-2 record in Class 3A District 4; Grinnell won the district with a 6-0 mark. 

The Lions closed the season with an 8-3 mark.
