Team starts things off in State Duals today

For the 11th time in the past 26 years, the Clear Lake wrestling team has qualified for the State Dual Meet Tournament. The Lions, the fifth seed in the Class 2A field, will take the mat today (Wednesday, Feb. 19) at 11 a.m. against the number four seed, Creston-Orient Macksburg.  The Lions have a dual meet record of 23-4, while C-OM is 16-0. 


Last second shot ends perfect season

The Clear Lake boys survived a pair of close games to end the regular conference season undefeated, but then had their perfect regular season disrupted by a last second shot.

The Lions (19-1) begin post-season play Monday, Feb. 24, at Charles City against LaPorte City, Union.  Game time is 6:30 p.m.  The winner will face either Charles City or Waverly-Shell 


CL girls advance with win over Panthers

The Clear Lake girls (20-2) began their bid for a State Tournament berth with a 58-32 victory over Central Springs Saturday, Feb. 15.

The Lions had a bit of a slow start, but once they got rolling it was all Clear Lake.  After a scoreless first three minutes, Clear Lake worked through its jitters and pulled out to a 14-4 first quarter 


Wins give Lions a share of NCC title

The Clear Lake girls tallied a pair of North Central Conference wins in their final regular season outings last week.  The victories gave the 17-1 Lions a share of the NCC title, along with St. Ed’s.

CL 55, Algona 42

The Lions shook off a pesky Algona team, 55-42, Tuesday night.  

Clear Lake built on its one-point lead in the first quarter to take a 31-24 halftime lead.  A 9-1 run to close out the third quarter swung momentum their way and they handled the Bulldogs down the stretch to get the win.
