Lions clinch District title

The Clear Lake Lions cemented yet another District football title Friday night.  The Lions (8-0, 5-0) rolled past hapless Iowa Falls-Alden, 41-0, to clinch the District title and assure themselves of a number one seed in next week’s playoffs.  

   

Cardinals improve to 6-2 with win over Midgets

The Garner-Hayfield/Ventura Cardinals (6-2) barreled through the Estherville (2-6) defense Friday night en route to a decisive win over the Midgets. The ever-consistent GHV offense was as effective as ever, bleeding another victim dry with a relentless barrage of short gains that accumulated into a 399-yard night for the Cardinal offense.

It’s the right time of the season to be on a roll and the Garner-Hayfield/Ventura volleyball team is right where they want to be heading into post season.  The Cardinals topped Rockford and won their own tournament last week.

GHV 3, Rockford 0

The Cardinals had an easy time with Rockford on Tuesday, Oct. 15, handing them three losses, 25-15, 25-12 and 25-10.

   

Clear Lake boys second at Conference Meet

The Clear Lake boys cross country team saved their best for the North Central Conference Meet.  The Lions finished as runner-up in the meet, held at Eagle Grove, to fourth ranked Algona.  The Lions topped eighth ranked Fort Dodge St. Edmond and Humboldt for the first time this season.
