Another good night for the Lions

 Carter Garrington scored three touchdowns; quarterback Brock Adams set a new school passing record; and the first team defense is still unscored upon. All in all, it was another good game for the Clear Lake Lions Friday night, as they defeated Osage, 44-6, in the district opener for both schools.

   

GHV cross country team makes school history

The Garner-Hayfield/Ventura cross country teams stepped it up and got the job done Monday, Sept. 15, at the Ballard Meet. The boys team made school history by winning both the team and individual titles.
 Junior Chase Smith brought home the gold by finishing the race in 17:00. The team scored 48 points to lead the 12-team competition. Eagle Grove was second with 61 points and North Polk was third with 91 points.

   

Cardinals drop close one, 19-16

 The Garner-Hayfield/Ventura Cardinals (1-2) fell to the Forest City Indians (2-1), 19-16, in a close bout of back and forth scoring Friday night in the 2A District opener for both teams.
 The Cardinals were first on the board with a break away, 87-yard touchdown run by Logan Miller with a Connor Burke kick to put them up seven.

   

CL girls drop close matches

The Clear Lake volleyball team played a close match with Mason City and battled Charles City in a triangular played Thursday, Sept. 11, in Mason City.

 The Lions and Mohawks were evenly matched in their outing. The Mohawks escaped with a 25-23 victory in the first game. The Lions kept their heads up and posted a 25-15 win in the second, but momentum swung back toward Mason City in the third and they won, 16-14.
