Clear Lake and GHV to be represented at Drake Relays

A pair of Clear Lake athletes, as well as one from Garner-Hayfield/Ventura will compete at the prestigious Drake Relays this weekend.

Chandler Diercks will return to Drake seeking to become a two-time winner in the long jump.  The CLHS senior has the top jump in the state so far this year at 23’8.5”.  Diercks won at the Drake Relays in 2014 with a leap of 23’10”,  just one and three-quarters of an inch 

   

Lions claim runner-up honors at home meet

Algona was the class winner of the eight-team field at the Lions Relays held Tuesday, April 14, in Clear Lake.  The Bulldogs ran away with the team title, amassing 196 points. Runner-up Clear Lake had 81 and Osage was third with 66.

   

CL girls tee off to a good start

The Clear Lake girls golf team has gotten off to a fast start.

On Monday, April 13, the Lions played at the Mason City Country Club against Mason City, Mason City-Newman and Garner-Hayfield/Ventura.   The Lions shot a team score of 212 to finish second overall.  Mason City won the meet with a 195.

Dane Waldron fired a 36 to lead Clear Lake (155) to a triangular win over Garner-Hayfield/Ventura (174) and Newman (179) at Highland Park in Mason City Tuesday, April 14.
