Spring blizzard of snow geese sweeps over North Iowa

This year’s spring snow goose migration is currently winging its way through Northern Iowa.  Climbing the continent toward ancestral breeding grounds, the annual flight has become one of earth’s most spectacular natural events – creating a feathery spring blizzard as more than six million of the noisy white birds simultaneously push their way to subarctic Canada.  For the outdoor enthusiast, it is a sight and sound like no other.

   

Three Clear Lake players earn All-NCC honors

Three members of the Clear Lake Lions have received All-North Central Conference honors.

The group was led by Matt Stephany, who was a unanimous First Team All-NCC selection.  The Clear Lake senior averaged 15.2 points per game and scored a team-high 319 points.  His fieldgoal shooting percentage (58.6) also topped the team.   He pulled own 119

Second-ranked Pocahontas Area hit four three-pointers during a two and one-half minute span in the fourth quarter and rallied to beat number 13 Clear Lake, 63-59, Class 3A quarterfinal round at the Girls State Basketball Tournament in Des Moines Tuesday, March 3.

   

Faber named to INA All-State Girls BB Team

Clear Lake's Kaye Faber has been named to the Iowa Newspaper Association's 2015 All-State Girls Basketball Team.  Faber, a 5'11" senior, was selected as a member of the Class 3A Third Team.
