Officers respond to assault call

Suspect flees and is found at Opportunity Village

At approximately 2:50 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 8, the Clear Lake Police responded to 1010 Village Road in Clear Lake, after receiving a call from a 32-year old female who had been assaulted physically by her boyfriend and then threatened with a knife.

When officers arrived they found the victim to be suffering from non-life threatening injuries. She was not transported to the hospital. A knife was taken as evidence at the scene.

Prior to the arrival of the officers the male suspect fled on foot. Officers searched the surrounding neighborhood for the suspect without success.

At approximately 3:45 p.m. a 911 call was received from Opportunity Village about an intoxicated male who was at their facility located at 1200 N. 9th Street W. When officers responded they found 30-year old Shad Arispe and took him into custody for the earlier alleged assault.

Arispe was arrested and charged with Committing Strangulation, a class D Felony, Domestic Assault 3rd offense, a class D Felony and Public Intoxication, an Aggravated Misdemeanor.

A check showed that Arispe was also wanted on a warrant for a parole violation.

Officers from the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol and the Department of Natural Resources assisted with the search for Arispe.

Arispe, no address available, was transported to the Cerro Gordo County Jail and bond was set at $12,000.  He will appear in Cerro Gordo County District Court in Mason City at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 16.
