Warren Field

Warren C. (Doc) Field, 86, of  3102 17th Ave., Lot 146  Greeley, Colo. died on Friday, Oct. 21, 2011 at the Rehabilitation and Nursing Center of the Rockies in Ft. Collins, Colo.

He was born on April 4, 1925 in San Francisco, Calif. to Forrest Clayton and Louise (Casel) Field.  Warren graduated from Davenport High School in Davenport, Iowa in January 1943.  He acquired the nick name ‘Doc” during high school while caring for his teammates during football season. He went on to serve in the U.S Navy during WW II.
Doc married Crystal Schemel on June 12, 1953 in Galesburg, Ill. The couple lived in Des Moines, Iowa from 1954-1970 and later in Clear Lake from 1970 until moving to Greeley in 1998.  He enjoyed golfing, bowling, traveling and sharing his ‘jack of all trades’ gift with his children. Doc was known by his friends and family as hardworking, caring, and fun loving.
He was in the Standard Oil business for years, but after moving to Clear Lake he worked at Bob Schukei Ford, a Buick dealership, and Midwest Wheel. He managed the V.F.W. in Clear Lake, worked for Don Cramer Construction, KRIB, and he owned the Town Pump. His various jobs involved him with the Clear Lake Winter Olympus and actively keeping the Surf Ballroom from becoming a thing of the past.
His survivors include his wife, Crystal Field: two sons, Robert Field and wife, Mary, of Olathe, Kansas, Rick Field and wife, Marcia, of Sammanish, Wash.; four daughters, Linda Dollar and husband, Mike, of Greeley, Lori Saving and husband, Dave, of Lenexa, Kansas, Carolyn Prohaska of Clear Lake, and Holly Hoffart and husband, Jeff, of Cypress, Texas; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Doc was a husband, a father, a grandpa, a friend, a counselor, a carpenter and a confident. For by grace Doc was saved through faith, it was the gift of God, not by works so that he could not boast. Doc was God’s workmanship created in Christ Jesus to do good works. (Ephesians 2:8 - 10)
The family will hold a memorial service in 2012.  Memorial contributions may be made to V.F.W. Post 6624, 3501 State, Evans, CO 80620 with designation of military families in need.
