Steven C. Nomsen

Steven Craig Nomsen passed away on Sept. 23, 2022 in Clear Lake.

A service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 2, at 11 a.m. at First Congregational Church.  A light lunch will follow the service.  Internment will be held at a later date.

Steven was born May 20, 1957 in Hampton, Iowa, to Richard C. and Virginia Nomsen.  He was a 1975 graduate of Clear Lake High School.  He served in the U.S. Navy from 1979 to 1985.  Steve worked as a draftsman and civil engineer.  Much of his career was spent in his father’s footsteps working to manage Iowa’s natural resources, while living in the Lake View, Iowa and Early, Iowa areas.

Steve moved back to Clear Lake in 2011 where he enjoyed life as a painter and handyman.  Steve was a valued supporter of One Vision.  He enjoyed gardening, painting, fishing, hunting, coin collecting, learning Spanish, watching football and those BBQ-Blues-Bicycle races.  He loved puzzles and puzzled some people with his dry sense of humor.

Steve loved to volunteer to anyone in need.  In 2016, Steve became an active member of the Clear Lake First Congregational Church.  He loved his church family and every week would either mow the church lawn or trim bushes or pick up downed branches or shovel snow.  Steve solved several structural problems at the church, including preserving the bell tower.  He enjoyed studying the Old Testament and was active in Bible studies there.

Steve is survived by his sister, Jan; brother, Dave; and his two grown children, William and Grace.

Memorial donations can be made to First Congregational Church to preserve the square tree designed by Steve.
