Phyllis D. Hanna

Phyllis D. Hanna, 95, of Ventura, passed away on July 22, 2024, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center, Mason City. She was born on July 15, 1929 to Charles and Hazel (Bokelman) Momyer, on the family homestead north of Ventura. Phyllis graduated from Ventura High School.

Phyllis married the love of her life, Robert Hanna, on July 20, 1961, in Sioux Falls, S.D. She was the proud mother of two children, Douglas and Kathryn, who were the joy of her life. Family was at the center of Phyllis’ world, and she cherished every moment spent together.

She had a dedicated career in sales at Bergo’s, where she worked for 28 years until her retirement in 1992. Her commitment to her work and her warm personality endeared her to colleagues and customers alike.

In her free time, Phyllis was known for her love of literature and was an avid reader. After retirement, she and Bob generously gave their time as volunteers at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City, demonstrating her lifelong compassion for others.

Phyllis was a longtime member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Ventura.

Those grateful in sharing in her life include her daughter, Kathryn; daughter-in-law, Bernadette (Hanna) Eddy; grandson, Charles (Amy) Hanna; great granddaughter, Zoe Hanna; sister, Marilyn Sayles; niece, Sandy King; and nephew, Steven Sayles.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; son, Douglas; brother, Raymond Momyer, and brother-in-law, Bob Sayles.

Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Monday, July 29, 2024 at Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 310 1st Ave. N., Clear Lake. A brief prayer service will begin at 2 p.m., followed by a graveside service at the Clear Lake Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Scott Kozisek officiating.
