Maxine Westover
Maxine Westover, 87, of 405 27th Ave. South, Clear Lake, died Thursday. Aug. 30, 2012 at the Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, Iowa.
There will be no funeral services as per Maxine’s request. Her body will be cremated and layed to rest in Moberly, Mo.
Maxine Prescott was born Sept. 13, 1924 in Clear Lake, the daughter of Burton & Alta (Carr) Prescott. She went to the country school in Clear Lake. She worked in Wichita, Kan. in an airplane factory and was known as Rosy the Riveter. She married Edward Eugene Westover on Jan. 1, 1947 in Clear Lake. They had four children Judy, Sharon, Larry and Garry. After marriage, Maxine was a homemaker most of her life. She worked at EF Johnson for a short time. After retiring they moved to Moberly. She returned to Clear Lake in August 2010.
Maxine enjoyed traveling, fishing, cooking, bingo and bird watching. Maxine was involved with her children when they were in 4-H. Maxine, Gene and Larry enjoyed hunting; she would do the cooking while the rest of them hunted. When Maxine and Gene moved to Moberly they enjoyed riding in the cart/wagon being pulled by a team of ponies.
Maxine is survived by her children, Judy (David) Anderson, Clear Lake; Sharon (Dan) Deling, Moberly; Larry Westover, Clear Lake; grandchildren, Nicole (Michael) Lyon, Sherburn, Minn.; Travis Anderson, Clear Lake; Tanya Deling, Moberly; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Katelyn and Carter Lyon, Sherburn, and Amber Deling, Moberly; sister, Marlys Christensen, Clear Lake; two brothers, Dale Prescott, Tex., and Ronald Prescott, Danville, Ken., along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Maxine is preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Garry; brothers and their wives, Paul and Bobby Prescott, Roger and Eloise Prescott; a nephew, Gerald Prescott; and niece, Cindy Szymanski; and very special cousins, Mildred and Eddie O’Donnell.
Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangments.
