Marjorie Callison
Marjorie Helen Callison left us to be with her Savior on Oct. 29, 2011. In Heaven, she will be reunited with her husband of 63 years, James W. Callison; her son, James W. Callison Jr.; her sister, Virginia Ruttan; and her parents, Fern and Elmer Myhre. She was the beloved mother of Michael J. Callison (JoAnn), Karen Norman (Michael), and
James Callison Jr.; grandmother of Ann Callison, Michael Callison, Matthew Norman, Katherine Norman Rogers, James Callison III, Jessica Mohler; and great-grandmother to Andy and Luke Norman, Elizabeth Rogers, and Harmony and Breck Mohler. Her legacy of love will continue through these future generations.
Marjorie lived most of her life in Des Moines, Iowa, where she was an active volunteer. Marjorie was president of the Blank Hospital Guild and the Iowa Heart Association, and was active in the initial development of the Botanical Center in Des Moines. She was a member of the Junior League of Des Moines and the League Club of Naples, Fla. She and Jim retired to Naples, Fla. 25 years ago. Marj and Jim lived in their family cottage during the summers in Clear Lake. She was a beautiful, classy lady and will be missed.
Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 7, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Des Moines with interment following at Resthaven Mausoleum in West Des Moines, Iowa. The family asks that memorial gifts in lieu of flowers be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 North Michigan Avenue, 17th floor, Chicago, IL 60601, or the American Heart Association, 1111 9th Street, Des Moines, Iowa 50314.
