Lions roll over Eagles in season opener
The Clear Lake boys dominated Eagle Grove in their season opener, played Friday, Dec. 2, at home. The Lions were 58-22 winners.
“This was a good game for us to open up with. It gave us an opportunity to knock the rust off and get some of our
younger kids adjusted to varsity basketball,” said Coach Kevin Kahler.
The Lions appeared ready to play. They rushed to a 20-3 lead after just one quarter and were ahead 37-10 at halftime.
Several Clear Lake baskets came courtesy of the Lions’ defensive pressure and transition game. The Lions recorded 22 steals in the game, led by Ozzie Adams with seven. Adams also led the team in scoring with 16 points. He was 7/11 shooting from the field
The coach noted the team has some things to iron out offensively, but he was pleased with the teams’ overall performance. “We’ve got some things to work on, but the potential is definitely there,” he said.
