Lady Vikes on a roll
The Ventura girls picked up two big conference wins in action last week on the basketball court. The wins moved their conference record to 6-3 and their overall record to 8-9.

The Lady Vikes traveled to Ruthven on Tuesday night, Jan. 24, for a Cornbelt Conference showdown.
Ventura out-hustled and out-played the Raiders in the first half. At one point, the Lady Vikes went on a 14-0 run. Ventura took a 29-12 lead into halftime.
The Lady Vikes capitalized on easy steals and lay-ups to move the lead to 43-20 by the end of the third quarter. The team maintained the momentum on their way to an easy 57-23 victory.
“Our aggressive trapping defense eventually took its toll on them and we got some easy baskets in transition,” said Coach Rod Huber. “I am seeing more of a balanced scoring attack in the last couple of weeks and that has contributed to our improvement.”
Emily Spilman led the scoring onslaught with 17 points. She was followed closely by Emily Mathews with 15 points. Rounding out the scoring was Shelby Rayhons with nine, Morgan Ames had four, Courtney Younge chipped in three and Sydney Younge had two points.
