The Lady Vikes traveled to Swea City on Tuesday, Sept. 27, to play NSKAR.  Ventura lost in three matches, 26-24, 25-15 and 25-8.
“We fought hard in the first set and things were really clicking, but they overtook us at the end of the set,” said Coach Abby Roenfanz.  “We were definitely not 100 percent tonight.  We were stuck on our heels and weren’t moving.  You can’t be that way against a team like NSKAR, who are at the top of the conference.”

Morgan Ames led the team at the net, hitting 13/20 with four aces.   Emily Mathews was 12/15 hitting with five kills.  Shelby Rayhons was 3/5 hitting with two kills.
Brittany Watson had a successful night at the service line, serving 10/13 with six aces.  Courtney Younge was 7/7 and Mathews was 8/9 with one ace.
Mathews led the team on defense with 12 digs.  Courtney Younge contributed five digs and Rayhons had four.
Ventura hosted a triangular on Thursday, Sept. 29, against West Bend-Mallard and CWL.  The Lady Vikes fell to WB-M in three games, 25-21, 25-23 and 25-17, but topped CWL, 26-15, 25-13 and 25-22.

Inconsistent playing cost the Lady Vikes a win against WB-M.
“We did not show up for this game.  We either start off great and fall apart, or start slow and can’t recover.  The most consistent team wins and we were not the most consistent team,” said Coach Abby Roenfanz.
Sebelia Markle had a perfect night at the service line, connecting on 7/7 with one ace.  Emily Mathews was 10/11 with two aces, Shelby Rayhons was 7/8 serving with two aces and Courtney Younge was 8/10 with two aces.
Morgan Ames led the team in hitting, going 19/25 with five kills.  Rayhons also had a good night hitting 12/12 with six aces. Mathews was 8/12 hitting with six kills.  Brittani Watson was 7/10 hitting with two kills.
Younge led the team in assists with 13.
“The girls have worked really hard, it’s just not transferring into games,” said Roenfanz.
