James Shelton
James Ronald Shelton, 84, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 9, 2024, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Inurnment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Britt.
James was born on November 10, 1940, in Kanawha, Iowa, to James E. and Marie Elizabeth (Freerksen) Shelton. He graduated from Britt High School in Britt, and pursued further education at Hamilton Business College.
James began his career working for Honeywell Electronics and Waters Electronics, where he cultivated a passion for electronics. He later shared his expertise as an instructor at Hawkeye Tech. A proud veteran, James served his country in the United States Army.
He was a dedicated member of several organizations, including the Clear Lake VFW, AMVETS, American Legion and NRA. Known for his love of cars, James enjoyed buying and selling them and was an avid gun collector. He was also an excellent conversationalist who cherished keeping up with his family and friends.
James is survived by his very special friend, Sandra Treadway of Clear Lake, along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, two step-children and many special cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his five sisters, Dorothy, Helen, Marge, Lois, and Carole; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
James will be remembered for his sharp mind, warm heart, and love of family and friends.
