Group buys beach cleaner for Clear Lake
Clear Lake’s beaches will be even more welcoming this summer.
The Association for the Preservation of Clear Lake has announced the purchase of a beach cleaning machine which will remove animal waste, plant debris and other litter from Clear Lake beaches in an effort to reduce bacteria and pollutant loading into the lake.
The $25,000 machine, manufactured by the Cherrington Company, was demonstrated at Clear Lake State Park beach and City Beach for local elected officials, as well as those from the Iowa Department of Natural resources and members of the Association for the Preservation of Clear Lake in May.
The machine was delivered to Clear Lake on Friday.
