Don Hauge named July 4th Parade Grand Marshal

The Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce Fourth of July Committee has announced local business owner and community volunteer Don

Hauge will serve as the Grand Marshal for the city’s July 4 parade.  The honor will bring Hauge out from behind the scenes of Clear Lake’s biggest event, into the spotlight for some much-deserved recognition.

Clear Lake July 4th Committee Chairperson Alice Hanley noted Hauge has helped the Chamber, and numerous other local organizations and causes, greatly during his years in Clear Lake.

“I don’t think Don has had a Fourth of July at home in probably 40 years,” joked Hanley, saying Don has been an integral part of seeing that the fabulous fireworks display over the lake go off without a hitch each July 4.  “He’s helped to get fireworks barges in and out of the lake, helped load them and worked to organize boat patrols,” she said.  In addition, he’s been a past parade chairman and served on various other Chamber committees and the former Economic Development Commission board.
“I just enjoy it,” said Don, who intends to spend this Fourth like always-- making sure the fireworks are ready to go and just enjoying the day.  “There’s really no better place to be than Clear Lake,” he said.

That love of the community inspired Don to be involved with a number of local organizations, helping with everything from storing their equipment to sponsoring shows.
“Don’s one of those guys who’s always ready to lend a helping hand,” added Hanley.  “His name has been suggested numerous times to be Grand Marshal and we’re pleased to honor him this year.” Read More Via E-Edition
