Clear Lake volleyball team sweeps Eagle Grove in home opener
The Clear Lake varsity volleyball squad won their first home match of the season in front of an enthusiastic Lion crowd. Clear Lake swept Eagle Grove, 3-0. Scores were 27-25, 25-14, 25-19.
“The strength of this team is not going to be on superstar talent, but on the strength of the collective will of a team that is willing to do whatever it takes to be successful,” said Coach Scott Swenson, whose team improved to 6-1. The coach also praised Assistant Coach Emily Hill with making a rotation adjustment in the second set which helped to keep the team on an even keel the rest of the night.
Jenna Peterson finished the night with eight kills, eight digs and was 16/16 serving for the Lions. Kaitlyn Pitzen also put down eight kills. She was also 12/13 serving, had 12 digs and two solo blocks. Taylor Julsen recorded six kills, had two solo blocks and was 3/5 serving.
“Taylor Julsen is another player that has elevated her volleyball game to the next level with her serving and aggressive play at the net,” complimented Coach Swenson.
Brianna Haugen smashed two kills against the Eagles, had two solo blocks, 10 digs and was 3/5 serving. Bailey Kibsgaard made two kills and had one solo block.
