Clear Lake cross country teams compete at Belmond
Clear Lake cross county teams were at Belmond Tuesday, Sept. 6, to compete in the B-K Invitational. The Lions girls posted a third place finish as a team, while the boys were fourth overall.
This week the Lions invite the public to cheer them on at their home meet at the Baptist Camp Thursday, Sept. 16, beginning at 4:30 p.m.
Girls race
Trudy Peterson and Steph Faught finished fourth and fifth respectively in the girls varsity race. The pair posted times of 16:46 and 16:48 to pace the Lions. Rebecca Baker and Amie Adams also ran close together. Baker was 22nd in 18:35 and Adams was 24th in 18:43. Kirsten Reinecke’s 40th place finish in 20:03 rounded out the scoring. Also competing was Jade Ullrich, placing 43rd in 20:51.
Garner-Hayfield captured the girls’ team title with 20 points, easily outdistancing runner-up North Iowa-North Kossuth with 70. Clear Lake had 95 points, followed by Central Spring (103), Osage (105), Hampton-Dumont (159), Clarion-Goldfield (160) and Forest City (DNP).
Boys race
