Clear Lake and Ventura football players earn All-State recognition

   The Iowa Sports Connection has released their 2011 Iowa High School Football All-State teams.  Three area players were recognized on the lists.
    For Clear Lake, Ozzie Adams was named to the Class 3A First Team Offense as a utility player.  Tanner Tusha was named the to Class 3A Second Team Defense as a linebacker.

    Joel Watson, a Ventura player, was named to the 8-Player First Team Defense team as a linebacker.
    Adams, the Lion quarterback, led his team in rushing and passing for the season.  He completed 96 passes on 146 attempts for 1,756 yards and 19 touchdowns.  He rushed for 678 yards on 135 carries and scored seven touchdowns.
    Adams is the son of Dave and Shelly Adams of Clear Lake.
    Tusha accounted for 14 solo tackles and 62 assists for the season.  He also had three sacks.
    Tusha is the son of Tom and Teri Tusha of Clear Lake.
    Watson led the District 3 in tackles and was second in the state in tackles for 8-player football.  He accounted for 164 total tackles for the Vikings.  On offense, Watson had 941 receiving yards and led the district in receptions and receiving yardage.  He broke the school record for the most receiving yards in a season.
    Watson is the son of Brad and Michelle Watson of Clear Lake.
