City Council okays wage increase; website improvement

    City of Clear Lake employees will receive a 3.4 percent wage increase for the 2012 fiscal year.
    The City Council approved the increase, which was part of a collective bargaining agreement made three years ago, at its June 6 meeting. The agreement is in place through the 2012 fiscal year.

    The Council also gave its approval to a website development project agreement to overhaul the city’s website.  Council members Ben Furleigh and Tony Nelson, Mayor Nelson Crabb, City Clerk Jennifer Larsen and City Administrator Scott Flory recommended Municipal CMS, of Smithville, Mo., for the work.  Municipal CMS was the least costly of the three firms interviewed by the work group and offered the timeliest completion.
    Flory noted that the City of Mason City recently utilized Municipal CMS to overhaul its web site and very positive experiences were reported.
    The total cost of the web site enhancement project is $8,000.  There will be annual hosting, maintenance, and support fees of $1,800, as well.   Flory reported the City’s web site has not been enhanced since it was initially designed in 2002 and has many limitations.  It is anticipated that the project will be completed in approximately eight weeks.
    The Council set June 16 as the date for a project bid letting for its 2011 Street Resurfacing Project and a public hearing and award of contract is expected at the Council’s June 20 meeting.   The project includes approximately 25 blocks of asphalt resurfacing on various city streets.  The City budgeted $425,000 for the project, with funding is being allocated from the Road Use Tax Fund. Read More Via E-Edition
