City approves contract with police, Teamsters

    The City Council voted unanimously Monday to approve a three-year collective bargaining agreement between the City of Clear Lake and the Clear Lake Police Department and Teamsters Local #238.

    The new agreement between the parties includes a wage increase of 1.75 percent each July 1 and 1.5 percent each Jan. 1 of the contract. The new contract will run from July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2015.
    The contract, which affects 17 staff members from the department, also increases the employee contribution for family health insurance (monthly) by 7 percent.  Single employees will have their contribution (monthly) increased 15 percent.
    The collective bargaining agreement awaits ratification by the union.
