Charles R. Stepleton

Charles Ray Stepleton, age 75, of Clear Lake, passed away on April 11, at MercyOne, Mason City, surrounded by loved ones. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Charles was born Oct. 1, 1947, in Mason City, to Gerald and Ann (Gerdes) Stepleton. He graduated from Ventura High School in 1965. He enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served during Vietnam. Chuck was later honorably discharged.

Chuck worked various jobs as a handyman and loved helping people. When not working, he enjoyed many hobbies including; spending time with his dog, Lucy, playing cards every week at the VFW, and fishing. Being the avid fisherman that Chuck was, he had to find a way to camouflage his location on the lake. Everyone who fished in Clear Lake knew Chuck’s ice house and would flock to him, knowing he knew where to sit to catch the early bite. It is one of many things that will be missed this winter.

Chuck is survived by his daughter, Ann Anderson; brother-in-law, Jerry Mahrenholz; many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews; and special friend, Donna Monson.

Chuck is preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Ann Stepleton; siblings, Virginia Coe, Marian Furleigh, Carol Mahrenholz and Patrick Stepleton; and special friend, Al Monson.

Funeral Arrangements are entrusted with Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake.
