Adams, Truesdell shine as All-Stars

Lions help lift team to runner-up finish

 

Clear Lake Head Baseball Coach Seth Thompson led the Small School East team, which included two Clear Lake Lions, to a runner-up finish at the 36th Annual All-Star Series played Aug. 2-5 in Clinton, Iowa.  

The series featured the top 64 seniors from the entire state divided into four teams (Small Schools East, Small Schools West, Large Schools East, and Large Schools West). Clear Lake’s Ozzie Adams played shortstop and second base, while senior Tanner Truesdell was in right field.

The Small Schools East team went 2-2 on the week, beating Large Schools East Thursday by a score of 7-1.  On Friday they topped the Small Schools West team 4-2, but lost to Large Schools West 2-0 on Saturday and were defeated in the Championship game Sunday by Large Schools East, 4-0.

Adams was voted by his Small Schools East teammates to be Team MVP for the week and received a home plate signed by his teammates.

“It was a great experience for our kids and they had a ton of fun both playing some ball and just getting to know some of the other great players across the state,” said Coach Thompson.  “It was quite an honor for both Ozzie and Tanner to get a chance to play and a credit to what they have accomplished both this year and throughout their careers here at  - Read More Via e-Edition
